Kogenergy’s first project is the Recife Waste-To-Energy plant, located in the City of Recife in the state of Pernambuco, Brazil, slated to begin construction in 2015 . Kogenergy , since its inception in 2004 has participated in an extensive lobbying effort in Brazil to promote the concept of Waste-To-Energy. This effort was contributory to the passing of federal laws in 2005/2006 allowing municipalities to award concessions for periods longer than 5 years (the previous law) and up to 20 years; a timeframe commensurate with the needs of project financing.
